Jaguar has made some relatively small changes to the exterior styling of its 2012 XF and XFR sport sedans, but the impact on the car's appearance is quite dramatic.

When XF first appeared as the C-XF concept a few years ago, it was a stunning vision for a Jaguar. When it went into production as a 2009 model, XF retained much of the design, but it was marred by changes that included, among other things, bug-eyed headlights.

That's been rectified for the 2012, due on sale later this year. XF and XFR have thin bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights that more closely mimic the original concept, as well as the lights now on Jaguar's flagship XJ. On the To further differentiate the supercharged XFR, Jaguar has enlarged the mesh-filled openings in the lower bumper.

The XF's rear sees minor changes, too, including new taillights with LEDs. And there are new alloy wheel designs.

Inside, the XF's seats offer better support and many of the silver buttons of the current car are now black, which should improve legibility. New audio systems include a 17-speaker premium system from Bowers & Wilkins and there are two USB ports plus Bluetooth streaming for portable music players.

Drivetrains carry over: a 385-hp, 5.0-liter V-8 or 510-hp, supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 with six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
